A Thank You to My Community

The last couple of months have taken me by surprise. After a few friends learned about my automotive background and my love for educating others about cars, they encouraged me to find a way to incorporate this into my life. On a Facebook group post about hosting a small car basics Q&A that I thought would receive maybe ten likes, I found almost a couple hundred nonbinary people and women flooded my post with likes and comments of interest and support. One commenter asked if I could work on her car. I had advised her that I had put down my wrenches, but that she could message me. After a couple of visits, I did end up replacing her A/C compressor. My love for turning wrenches was reignited.

More people from the group began to ask for recommendations for a mechanic, and I found myself either being recommended or finding the desire to offer my services. One person led to the next, and I found myself working on cars every week. I’ve met so many interesting and wonderful people through these connections. Coming to them has also taken me to parts of the Portland area I had yet to explore.

Somehow, I’ve found myself being pulled by the universe into the dream I have had since being only a teen. Through my education and experience, I am able to offer fair, honest, transparent, and compassionate car repair services to what has happened to be gender fluid people, women, and nonbinary people. The positive response I have received has been so warming and validating, and makes me glad I endured all of the adversity throughout the years to find myself here.

The solutions I have been able to provide so far have been for the single mom who’d prefer not to leave the kids home alone, the young adults who didn’t want to miss a full day of work, the people who wanted a compassionate explanation of their car and to be respected, the person who didn’t feel safe driving when their brake fluid was gushing out, and the person who simply does not have the ability to safely leave their home.

If you get the chance to meet me, I hope you find that I am a kind and humble person. My reason for sharing all of this is because I am honored to be trusted by such a wonderful community, and am so happy to serve such a meaningful purpose in my life.

Thank you, everyone, for all of the love and support you have shared with me in such a short time.
